Waiting to See President Obama

Today my mom took my sister and me out of school early and we met our friends and went to go see President Obama speak about Hillary Clinton.

It was such a long line!  It was really boring.  Our friends came.  Every time we felt like the line was never going to move, me and my friend went up ahead to check and see if we were even close.  We thought we were, but once the line sped up at the end we saw we were not close at all.  We waited 3 hours.  Lots of people came by with Trump signs, someone even said that it was closed and we should go home but they lied.  One time someone came by and said that the arena was full so we needed to go to the viewing area, but that ended up being full, too.

Even though we didn't get to see President Obama speak, we had to stop and not to our car because he was nearby.  So we got to see his motorcade come by us!  There were so many people who needed to protect President Obama.  Before we even saw the car he was in, there were so many motorcycles that were before him, after him, and next to him.

I'm glad we went even though we didn't get to hear the President speak.  It was still exciting waiting in the line and to get to see his car go by.  I would still tell people to try to get in but my advice is-- go early, and early means at least 5 hours, plus bring a lot of water and go to the bathroom first.

Eating Healthy

Eating healthy is important. Not just sometimes, but all the time. I eat healthy. I so used to eating healthy things that I like it. I love fruits and vegetables. I'm a vegetarian. I don't eat meat. That doesn't mean it's bad to eat meat, but some meat has things that people put in it that are bad for you.  For example, lots of people love to eat hot dogs, right? But did you know that the meat in hot dogs is the leftover parts of the animal. Gross right? Some people soak meat in chemicals, and thats bad for you. They soak the meat in chemicals because the meat is basically rotting flesh, so they soak it with that so it looks fresh, and so that you can leave it out for months and it will still be good. And the meat at Mc-donalds still has crushed up bones and eyeballs from the animal. That is so gross to me. When I grow up, I want to be vegan. If you are vegan, you don't eat anything from an animal. For example, you don't eat eggs, honey, ice cream, cheese, milk, butter, etc. But you can make vegan ice cream, vegan cheese, and you can have soy or almond milk instead of regular milk. And some people put non natural dye in some foods, instead of natural. At Whole Foods everything is natural, even the meat. They have a list of ingredients they don't allow in their store. I love shopping at Whole Foods, it is the best store ever. If you shop at Whole Foods and eat the food there, you will be very healthy. I am only 9 years old, and I know a lot about eating healthy, and some grown ups don't know anything about it. So eat healthy!
This is what I had for dinner on Thursday.  It is so good, and it's healthy.

Costs

When I was little, I didn't think about what anything cost. Now that I'm older, I know about costs. For example, when you see something at the store that you really like, and it is so perfect, you don't even pay attention to the price. But when you look at it, it's probably about 20 or 30 dollars. If you see something in the store that looks okay, but you don't really want it, it's probably 10 or 15 dollars. And do you know why you can't go to the movies so much? Because it probably costs 25 dollars a person. I have 5 people in my family, and I love going to disney world. But it costs 100 dollars per person per day! Thats a lot of money for 5 people. And plane tickets cost a lot. The cheapest you can get them is 300 dollars. It depends how far you go on a plane though. If you are going from Jacksonville to China, that could be 2,000 dollars per person! So if you have a big family, thats probably why you don't go to places a lot or go on many vacations. So don't complain about never going to any fun places.

Why I Love Book Club

I love Book Club because it gives me a chance to see my friends. I don't really ever see my friends because I switched to a new school, so I really love Book Club. Even though it's only once a month. Another thing I like about Book Club is that each time we have it, it's at one of our houses. My Book Club friends are Kaia and Norah. They are really nice and they always keep in touch with me with gmail. I also like staying up late with them. When we go to Kaia's house the moms never can stop talking, so we close her door and play quietly. But my other favorite part besides seeing my friends is the FOOD!!!! Whenever we go to Book Club, each of us has to bring a yummy snack. It has to be vegan because Kaia and her mom are vegan. Me and my mom are vegetarian, so it works out for us too. One mom brings the main meal, one mom brings a little side to go with the meal or a little dip, and one mom brings dessert, or a sweet treat for the end. Those are reasons why I really really really love going to Book Club!!!

                                    BOOK CLUB ROCKS

School

The first week of school is over! I liked it. I had three teachers named Ms. D, Ms. N, and Ms H.  They are all really nice. On the first day I made two friends;  Chealsey and Zoe. Chealsey is in my class, and Zoe is in my switch class. Every day at 1:00, we switch classes. Our switch class is with Ms. N and Ms. H. Ms. N teaches us Mondays and Tuesdays, Ms. H teaches us Thursdays and Fridays, and on Wednesday they take turns. Ms. D is my main teacher. I like her. We have something in our class called a link chain (a paper chain) and every time we get a compliment she adds a link to it. Whenever we get to a certain level we get a treat. When we get to the bottom of the chain we get pizza! Every Friday we have a party, whoever gets an A in conduct gets to participate in it. Chealsey is really funny. She also lives really close to me. I have other friends named Dana, Katie, Ashley, Nia and Daydree. In switch class we are learning about poetry, and we are reading a book called Love That Dog. On Friday we had to write our on poem about what we depend on. Here is mine:
So much depends upon a soft pink cake,
scattered in blue flowers,
sitting on the window edge
of my quiet house.
We had to describe it in detail so that people could use imagery and imagine it. I think I did a good job. In Ms. D's class we have to see how many multiplication tables we can do out of 100, in five minutes. I am okay at that. But it is hard. When we are done we check it then finish it. Sometimes I rush through it and get some of them wrong. I do the easy ones first then the hard ones. That way I have already done a lot. Every day in switch class we come into the room, put our backpacks around our chairs, get our writing journals out, look to the smart board to read the prompt, and see what we have to write about, then write it. Sometimes Ms. N and Ms. H give us examples by telling us about something that happened to them to help get us started. School goes by really fast. So far my favorite resource is Music. We haven't gone to the library yet. We usually have a resource at 10:55, then we have a 15 minute recess, and right after that we have lunch, then we switch classes. And the whole school day is six hours. But to me it feels like two. The only thing I think goes by really slow is switch class. I am always taking glances at the clock, waiting for school to be over. My favorite thing to do in switch class is read, and I also like to write. The book I am reading is really good. It is called; From The Mixed Up Files of Ms. Basil E. Frankwiler. I read the first page, and the second I was done reading it I already liked the book. Weird, right? I really like it when Ms. D teaches us Science. It's fun. And interesting. Also cool. Sometimes we do projects, and we need a partner to do it, and me and Chealsey are always partners. School is fun!

My Dream Came True!

Today, my biggest dream came true!!!!
I got to go to a bakery and learn from two professional cake decorators how to decorate cakes!
I have wanted to become a cake decorator since I was 4 years old.
The cake decorators names were Caitlin and Brittany, they were both very nice. :)

First I washed my hands, then they gave me a hairnet and apron. I had an apron to keep my dress from getting dirty, and I had a hairnet to keep my hair from getting into the cake.

I frosted the middle of the cake, I had to push out the frosting really hard. Brittany spun the plate around for me while I squeezed the frosting out.

I put the top of the cake on, Caitlin said to lightly push it on so it would hold in place. Some of the frosting squeezed out from the middle. I wanted to eat it.

Brittany taught me how to point the pastry bag at an angle, cause you do't want any cake showing. She said once I get good at squeezing the frosting out and pointing it at an angle, I can do that with one hand and spin the plate with the other.

Then I finished frosting the top of the cake, and used the cake scraper to smooth it out. All you had to do was spin the plate and put the cake scraper at an angle, and then it turned out smooth. Brittany said that the cake scraper tool was awesome.

Then we got vanilla frosting and natural vegetable dye, and made frosting colors to decorate the cake. We all made flower cakes. Me and Brittany both made a vanilla cake, and Caitlin made a chocolate cake. I had gold flowers, pink flowers, and blue flowers. The gold flowers were marigolds, the pink flowers were roses, and the blue flowers were morning glorys.

I feel so proud of myself for making such a beautiful cake!
We are going to eat it after dinner, I can't wait to taste it!

Olympic Athlete Post #4

The Olympics have started! Well, a few days ago. I am excited! I have been watching highlights. There is a channel on Roku that you can watch to see the Olympics. It updates every day so you can see new videos. It has every sport in the Olympics, and if you click one, it shows you videos of people competing in that sport. I have been watching gymnastics and clicking videos of Simone Biles. She is the best gymnast in the world! She did a vault and landed without a single little jump! She got ten points for that. It is amazing watching her. Even on T.V. I like watching Simone Biles do floor routines the most, but I also like watching her on the parallel bars. I KNOW Simone Biles is going to get a gold metal!
