Book Challenge: Zoe's Wrap up!

I did it!

I read 52 books for the reading challenge!  I really read more than that but not all of them fit into a category.

I want to tell you about what I think about the reading challenge but first I need to tell you about 4 things I read that I didn't take a quiz on:

Charlotte's Web (a play):  I liked the story but it as hard to read it because it's not like any other story, you have to read it in a  certain way and act like the characters.  It is easier if you read it out loud but I still didn't like it.

Grimm's Fairy Tales: Mainly, I read one per night out loud to my sister. These stories are scary!  Someone always dies and they are different versions of Disney stories but scarier.  There were about 30 stories.

Heartsongs:  I was excited about the book because his cover was something he drew and it was a good illustration.  He got published at 11 years old.  I feel like other 11 year olds could have done a little bit better, though.   I didn't want to finish it, but I did for the challenge.

Bridge to Teribithia:  I feel upset that I didn't do good on this AR quiz, so I will write something about the book.  I really liked Leslie, she was really adventurous and had a good imagination.  It was totally stupid that they made her die.

The reading challenge was fun and hard at the same time, but now I am glad that I am done with it!   At first I thought I wasn't going to be able to do it, but I did it!

Music Video Parody Experience #5

Students should be allowed to work on Music Videos during school/class time because it is learning how to be patient, learning outside, practicing math, learning how to show expression, and getting exercise.  We also had fun.  It's important to have fun sometimes even when your at school. Movement helps you learn better.

My Book is about...

I am in the process of writing a book. It is about two girls named Ivy and Sara. It is fun to write it. Anyway, it is really exciting and you never know what is going to happen. So far I only hve three characters in my book, but I am about to add another two. Ivy and Sara are usually excited to find out what is happening, but sometimes they get scared or mad or sad. I will keep writing until I finish the book!image

Skypportunity with a Video Game Coder

Our class Skyped with a video game coder.

Daniel lives in england, bristol, united kingdom.  He works on computers, and plays the saxophone. One of the games he made is called, “sir, you are being hunted.” he plays different types of saxophone. He is good at coding.  He also talked to us about Minecraft.

He said we could write him with more questions, so I did.   I asked him about the saxophones.  There are 10 kinds and he plays 3 kinds of saxophone.

This is him playing the alto saxophone:

Musical Parody Lesson#3- What is our music video parody about?

Our music video parody is about multiplication and division. The background music is the music to hello. Our parody is funny.  I am the first clip because I have red hair like Adele so it's funny.  The song is saying times tables are frustrating but if we keep trying we will get it.
Watch it here:

Musical Parody Lesson#2- My own parody lyrics

We watched music videos to see what we liked about certain ones.

I like music videos that have real people, instead of cartoons, because it seems like whenever it is cartoon it only is crazy, but if it is real people, it teaches you a lesson. It is hard to shoot them.

I like to read it read it

He likes to read it read it

She likes to read it read it

We like to  - write it!

Musical Parody Lesson#4: Three Things I Learned

The three things I learned about a Music Video Parody are these: First, there are many clips; You cannot have just one clip, it just wouldn't work, so you have to use about thirty five clips. Second, you have to have patience; It won't always be your turn, and there is a LOT of waiting. Third, It looks easy, but it is hard; You usually see a Music Video Parody before you do one, and the people who are doing it make it look easy, but it is actually REALLY hard. And finally, Forth, you need to choose a popular song; It cannot just be a regular song, because no one would understand the joke of the song. Here is a link to the Parody
