Book Review: Abby Spencer goes to Bollywood

Date Finished: 9/18/17

Pages Read: 249

Rating: 3 out of 10

This book, Abby Spencer goes to Bollywood, was about a girl named Abby who has a father from India who is a famous Bollywood actor. Abby goes to Bollywood to meet her one of a kind Dad. But, he doesn't want Abby to tell anyone that she is his daughter. So Abby has fun with some of her Dad's friends, like Shiva, Mina, Bina, Shaan, and even her Grandma Tara! Abby soon finds out that the life of a movie star isn't so grand. She barley ever gets to spend time with her Dad, let alone talk to him. One day, she happened to walk by a group of photographers who were trying to get a glimpse of  her Dad, or as they called him, Naveen Kumar. One photographer calls to Abby. She ignores him. Again and again he asks her if she knows where her Dad is. Finally, Abby can't take it anymore. "Leave me and my Dad alone!" she angrily yells out. As soon as she says it, she regrets it. What will dad say? Or even worse, what will he do? Read Abby Spencer Goes To Bollywood to find out. I didn't really like this book. I thought that it was a little too boring. My favorite part was when Abby goes shopping with her Dad's girlfriend, Rani. I think if you were 9-15 this book could interest you. I think the lesson in this book was, "Think before you answer." If you decide read this book, I hope you like it because I didn't.

Book Review: Story Thieves

Date Finished: 9/4/17

Pages Read: 382

Rating: 10 out of 10

I read a book called Story Thieves. It is about a girl named Bethany who has the power to jump in  and out of books. One day, Owen, a boy in the book, is at the library putting books away one day, and he picks up the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory book. When he turns to put it on the shelf it jumps out of his hands...and PLOP! On to the floor. Owen jumps backwards, wide eyed. The book jumps again. And opens. Slowly, a hand comes out. Then a head. Bethany's head. She looks at Owen, and all around her. Owen just stares. She climbs out of the book and explains, ans tells Owen to never, ever, tell anyone about this. A few days later, Owen asks Bethany to take him into his favorite Kiel Gnomenfoot book. Bethany hesitates, but then agrees. They jump in after school at Owen's house. But disaster occurs when Owen kills the evil Dr. Vertify, who was supposed to kill the Magister.  Bethany is furious. she takes Owen out of the book with her, only to find the Magister and his apprentice, Kiel Gnomenfoot, standing behind them. Soon, the Magister tries to persuade Bethany to let all of the characters out of all the books in the world. Meanwhile, Owen is trapped in the book in a prison. Nobody comes along and frees him. Owen says, "Since the real Kiel is out of the book, can I be another Kiel in disguise?". Nobody agrees but tells Owen to be careful.  Owen then meets Charm, Kiels friend. Out of the book, the Magister releases  several monsters out of books to capture Kiel and Bethany. Owen and Charm face some complicated and dangerous challenges in the book. What will happen to Kiel and Bethany? What will happen to Owen and Charm? Read the book to find out!

Hurricane Irma

Six days ago Hurricane Irma hit Jacksonville, Florida...hard. It hit us the worst in the middle of the night. At 2:40 am our house lost power. There was lots of things falling on the roof, and it was frightening. I woke up around 3:00 to the sweet flash flood alert. That was scary. The wind didn't blow that hard, but it blew hard enough to make the right side of our maple tree in the front look/be 90% bare. Here is the main thing: overall, Hurricane Matthew was worse damage. Irma was just scarier, especially because it was practically all night. I got really scared when I heard alerts from a phone because I didn't want to get a tornado. The worst part was when I woke up in the middle of the night and there was noises, a flash flood alert, and scaryness. Here are some pictures from  Hurricane Irma:
This is me up in our maple tree out front, taking out stray and broken branches from it.πŸŒͺ🌲🌳🌴🌩

This is our street out front flooded. It is dirty water. It dried out pretty quickly into the gutters and flooded somewhere else.πŸŒŠπŸ€πŸπŸ‚πŸƒ⛈🌧
